If you have any feedback on how we can make our new website better please do contact us and we would like to hear from you.
10/8/10 St George Futsal is proud to be a partner to FC Barca Community Football. We love all that the club is about - their values, their charity work, the way they play and the way they teach the game. They play the way sport should be played, and play to their social values. If anybody else would like to join FC Barcelona Australasia, please contact Andrew.
8/8/10 After a cold, wet Winter it will be great to get to Spring futsal. Hopefully, warmer and drier weather is on the way...
Competition days are filling up very fast, so please contact Moya to ensure you do not miss out.
We will be running a 9's and 12's State Championship Development squad. Those who are interested in playing in gala days and completing serious training one afternoon a week should let us know ASAP.
1/4/10 Here's another story from the vaults of "The politics of soccer can drive you crazy!":
A match official asks a spectator to move behind the spectator ropes, and gets punched in the face. The spectator is identified. The Association takes no action! A rep "trial" takes place that is limited to playing a game with new players playing out of position. There is no evaluation of movement, technique or tactics. That rep team is now coming dead last in the metro rep competition! An U8 coach has taken to videoing opposition teams to analyse them in order to beat them in a non-competition match!?! An U8 coach swears in front of players and spectators. It is reported by the referee. The association takes no action! Sometimes, it is time for a cleanout...or people walk away from the sport.

1/9/09 hi to all. The futsal comp starts with a minimal break this year but we have scheduled a two week break over the October school holidays...
It should be a great comp with all comps full except for one vacancy in the Saturday morning comp for an U7 or U8 team. Please let us know if you know of any individuals or a team that would be keen for a game. Contact Moya on 9547 0277 or 0402 135 615

Anybody interested in playing at the State Champo's in the U11's should let us know straight away as training will begin in the second week of September.
**
The BFUT teams did great this year: 11A's made it the quarter finals in the Sydney Cup and lost 1-0 in the local grand final. Both U7 teams, Carlton Rovers and Sans Souci, remained undefeated throughout their comps.
We'll be looking to increase numbers and strengthen in both these squads for 2010.
There will be a Youth league Development Group for U11 and U12's for those interested in playing Youth League at age 13. It is aimed at providing professional training and a clear pathway for those talented and dedicated players with a desire to play Youth League.
Let me know if you are interested. We will be looking to strengthen our squad.
7/7/09 Hi to all! We're looking forward to hosting our exciting Spring Comp. The comps start in September. Juniors will finish late Nov/early December, youth will finish mid-December. Adults will play to December, have a break, and then play through to late Jan/early Feb.
We can help with player clothing with our contacts at Adidas and Lotto. Artificial turf footwear should be warn on artificial turf, and we can supply footwear.
Looking forward to catching up with familiar faces for the next comp!!

I have just completed a coaching clinic at Valentine Park with Thadeu Goncalves of BFUT. He is one of Brazil's leading football educators. Watching and learning this man develop talented youth league players was unbelievably good. It also highlighted the lack of football knowledge that we hold in Australia.
The clinic was like a boot camp. Anybody who thinks Brazilian soccer focuses on the "pretty" is seriously misled. Every session is about developing the physical, the technical, and the tactical. The methodology is linked from the junior through youth to the professional level. The end result are players and teams that learn to play like Barcelona or Brazil.
The progression of learning is always from technique/principle, to circuit, to game situation, to game condition.
We analysed the A-League final and various Barcelona matches:
1) We focused on the difference in speed of thought in terms of ball on the ground, minimising the number of touches on the ball, diagonal passes and switching the point of attack.
2) We did technical analysis on players in terms of their shooting, passing, heading, tackling, movement of ball away from pressure, and goals.
3) We did tactical analysis on players in terms of the plays and movement that led to goals being scored. We also focused on playmakers offensive and defensive roles, team playing systems, defensive and offensive systems, dead ball strategies.
I would highly recommend the BFUT methodology to teams and coaches. For more information, phone me on 9547 0277 or see it at www.bfut.net
2/1/2009
Happy New Year to all - I hope the year brings good health, wealth and happiness to all.
Trials for the upcoming outdoor season are beginning. A team capable of winning the SGSFA Championship in the U11's and heading towards reps at age 13 is being assembled, and the U7's will continue their stellar performances. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Players will be coached using BFUT methods (see the BFUT link on this website). Please phone me on 0414 338 396 for full details.
The PRE-SEASON FUTSAL Comps will start early Feb and finish in March. This is a great way to get fit for the upcoming outdoor comp. Come along and join the fun!
* 13/9/08 - 28/9/08
A great start to the 2008 futsal season with some brilliant contests so far.
We now have 66 teams playing in all comps. We would like to welcome all new and returning members to the club. We hope you have a great season.
As always, we are very approachable so please don't hesitate to speak to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Grading (with the exception of the Saturday comp) will be completed after Round 3.
From ROUND 4 TO ROUND 12 is competition. All goals for and against count. All points count including 3 points for a win, 2 points for a score draw, 1 point for a scoreless draw and 0 points for a loss.
As well as awards to the winner of each comp, club awards are given for GOLDEN BOOT - most goals scored by a team, and GOLDEN DEFENCE - least goals conceded by a team.
To reduce friction grazes, please coach all players to remain balanced and stay on their feet, and also roll socks up and over the knee - like Cristiano Ronaldo. Goalkeepers should wear elbow guards.
NSW State Futsal Championship dates and venues have been released. We will forward information via email to all members.
Club training for juniors will begin at Round 4 and continue to round 12.
* 10/8/08 Great results for IBFutebol coaching methods and wonderfully talented students. Our U6's are playing for Carlton Rovers in the St George District comp. The mighty "pups" are closing in on 200 goals for their first year, some of the play has been truly outstanding. Many parents have complimented the boys on their play. Recent highlights included a 23-0 win...
* 9/8/08 Thanks to members for alerting us about the business practices of Southern District Futsal. Rest assured, they ARE NOT TAKING OVER OUR CLUB, and we WILL BE RUNNING our Spring Comp as usual. Southern District Futsal are now being prosecuted in The Department of Fair Trading. They appear to be yet another "cowboy" outfit. You have to question the motives of organisations who are not affiliated with our governing bodies, and are happy to lie to our club members...
* 5/8/08 Our schools soccer program has been very successful with yet another school making the District Grand Finals in both Junior and Senior grades.
* 25/11/07 It seems that with the warmer temperatures, spectator temperatures are also rising. Please keep calm on the sidelines. The ref's can't see everything because the game goes so fast. Any complaints should be put in writing and they will be dealt with ASAP.
* 14/11/07 NEW COMPs will start Feb 4, 2008 and finish April 6, 2008. The comp will run to the school term and break over Easter. Fees are from $85 per player for registered Futsal players. All comps will run in the cool of the evening under lights. Games will be played on our new world-class synthetic turf pitch! The summer comp is a great way for players to warm up for the upcoming outdoor comp!
* 3/11/07 URGENT!! FUTSAL IS CANCELLED THIS MORNING DUE TO THE RAIN! Enjoy the sleep in...
* 29/10/07 Final competition rounds begin this week. There should be some high quality futsal played over the coming weeks. Good luck to all!
* 28/10/07 A great effort from all kids at the state futsal champo's. Two teams made the quarter finals. Both games were lost to the eventual winners!
One team was pipped for a place in the quarter finals on goal difference. This was a great learning experience - an opportunity to compete against some of the best teams and players in the state. Valuable lessons should have been learned.
* 25/10/07 Good luck to all competing players at The NSW State Futsal Championships! Thanks to parents for their support.
*12/10/07 Great futsal being played by all members. State Championships are just around the corner...will be a great football experience for all participants.
* 5/10/07 Big changes to the way children learn soccer in Australia. The law is that children must now learn via small sided games (4vs 4, 5 vs 5, 7vs 7) until age 14. Finally, we have now joined the elite junior development countries in the world such as Brazil, Argentina, Italy, France, Spain, Holland, Germany, etc. We'll send out information to all club members on why Small Sided Games are so important to junior development. It is also worthwhile noting that all players need to learn a wide range of technical skills to enable them to get more out of the game. Hopefully, between SSG, practical technical skills and tactical nous we can develop a generation capable of WINNING a world cup rather than just participating in it...
* 27/9/07 Spring comp is now well underway. The first two rounds have been played so we can determine grading for teams and individuals. The two playing courts will be now known as "WEMBLEY" and "SAN SIRO." The Wednesday competition will feature teams in the PREMIER LEAGUE, LA LIGA and the A-LEAGUE.
Thankyou to all players for some great futsal.
* 8/9/07 We now have a new home, with a club that overlooks the playing action, and the games played on a No.1 bowling green! Very few clubs in Australia would be able to offer such a wonderful club facility where meals, drinks and seating are offered to spectators, players and their families.
* 7/9/07 A massive increase in membership, a new venue and our first night comp - should be a great comp. All the best to all players.
* 12/7/07 Preparations are underway for our SPRING comp, commencing in SEPTEMBER. Players are wanted for both our local comp, and our STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SQUADS.
* 1/6/07 Welcome to all Connells Point Public School players. We had a good session on a beautiful winter's day. I hope you all enjoyed the afternoon.
* 30/5/07 Awesome 25m penalty strikes from the IBFutebol training group on Wednesday. In the elimination comp there were so many great strikes - it was a joy to watch. The boys had tried various techniques - inside of the foot, laces and toe strikes. Most settled on the Brazilian toe striking method - awesome power when struck correctly. Shades of Roberto Carlos in his prime...
* 27/5/07 The Super Futsal Saturday comp has produced some great games of late. Children scoring their first goal, great passing and movement, 4 year olds scoring hat-tricks, stepovers...congratulations to all players.
* 20/4/07 The club has taken a major step forward by implementing IBFutebol coaching principles. This is a practical education in shooting, finishing, crossing, heading, passing, first touch and receiving. In Brazil, students perfect tactics and techniques in these key areas before worrying too much about competition. For those interested in educating players to an elite level, come to our coaching courses. To check out more log onto www.bfut.net or read the book "The Principles of Brazilian Soccer" by Thadeu Goncalves & Julio Mazzei. (Mazzei coached Pele - fairly useful credentials!)
* 17/3/07 Thanks to all new players for coming to our ORIENTATION DAY. It was great to see so many great new players. Well done to all!
* 16/3/07 Welcome to new members of the club for our Winter Super Futsal Comp! The format will be "Train & Play." In essence a beginners introduction course to futsal. Will be great fun!
* 15/3/07 Intermediate squad members attempted SKILL LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE COURSE. The course is challenging and wide ranging. The purpose is to produce players to a high level intermediate standard capable of competing well at a reresentative level. Congratulations to Liam and Callum who passed.
* 19/2/07 All players are to be congratulated on their play on the weekend - there was some awesome games played out. It's a pleasure to watch the quality of some of these games and the great skill on display by young players!
* 14/2/07 Major Semi-Final of Futsal Premier League is on Sat 17/2/07 at Menai Indoor Sports from 2pm.
Football elite training session was very good. Technique Awards were awarded for First Touch, Positioning, Shooting and Ball Mastery during the futsal game. Welcome to Martin, Emma, Lisa & James.
* 10/2/07 Another great round of pre-season competition.
Zagreb 8's are now known as The Gunners.
I watched the semi-finals of the 12's Futsal Premier League. Outstanding football - it's a pleasure to watch the skill level and intelligence of these young players. I'll email details of the finals so that anyone interested can attend.
Our aim as a club will be to play in the Futsal Premier League when our age groups reach the U12's.
GREAT NEWS: St George Futsal are proud to announce our partnership with FC Barcelona Australasia through their Community Football Program. We support the community values of FCB, their great charity work in Australia and around the world, and look forward to assisting them to implement their football systems and camps in Australia, and help arrange tours to the famous FCB Escola in Barcelona.
